Sure it wasn't so pleasant going outside for the past few weeks, but once it starts getting hot, it's nice to venture outside every few hours and thaw from the glacial air conditioning. When the weather cooperates, there's no better way to take a break from the work day than by eating your lunch outside. If you work downtown, there's a growing number of vendors offering quick, inexpensive and tasty lunches on a corner near you. Every now and then I need a break from my beloved bulgogi cart and the On the Fly carts are a great option. The carts each have distinct offerings- barbecue by the Portrait Gallery, tacos on H St. (soon to move to 7th and F). Now they're adding Asian-themed carts that will serve items like Thai curries and bento boxes. The soft launch is this week at the taco truck's old location on 8th and H, with full scale operations beginning next week. Sign up for their newsletter or go to their website for coupons.
